Small-size OLED shipments are expected to exceed the 1 billion mark this year

Sunday,Mar 30,2025

According to the "1Q25 Small-size OLED Display Market Tracking" report released by UBI Research on the 18th, global shipments of small-size OLED panels are expected to reach 980 million units in 2024, an increase of about 200 million units from 773 million units in 2023. Looking ahead, shipments in the small-size OLED market are expected to easily exceed the 1 billion mark in 2025.

The report shows that major panel manufacturers in South Korea and China have seen significant growth in shipments in 2024, with increases generally ranging from 40 million to 50 million units. In particular, Chinese panel manufacturers such as TCL CSOT, Tianma, Visionox and Everdisplay have seen shipments increase by more than 50% compared to 2023.

South Korean panel manufacturers also performed well. Samsung Display's shipments jumped from 320 million units in 2023 to 380 million units in 2024 as Samsung Electronics' Galaxy A series began to adopt rigid OLED panels. At the same time, LG Display's smartphone OLED shipments increased from 52 million units in 2023 to 68 million units in 2024 by increasing its supply of iPhone panels.

Shipments of Chinese panel manufacturers have also been steadily rising, becoming an important force driving market growth. BOE and Visionox's newly built 8.6-generation production lines are designed for the production of smartphone panels, which will further promote the growth of small-size OLED panel shipments in the short term.

Han Changxu, vice president of research at UBI Research, pointed out: "As Samsung Electronics' Galaxy A series low-end models and Chinese kit manufacturers' low-priced models gradually expand the use of OLED panels, we expect the market demand for small OLEDs to continue to grow." He also emphasized that "the investment in new production lines will help meet the growing demand and support the market's move towards higher performance and lower costs."
